One easy way to compare ZCash and Nockchain is to look at the capability of their ZKPs.
In ZCash, wallet generates ZKPs that verify a single transaction is valid. That's it.
In Nockchain, NockApps get miners to generate ZKPs that verify the execution of NockVM is valid. Execution of the NockVM can include:
- Millions of $NOCK transfers,
- Settlement of a high-performance exchange
- Issuance and liquidation of thousands of loans
- Minting billions of stablecoins
- Virtually any other blockchain application
- The many use cases for ZK untapped today (cybersecurity, private IDs, securing critical infrastructure, digital provenance, verifiable AI etc.)
This difference can be directly traced back to how the consensus algorithm is designed for each chain: classical-PoW vs zkPoW.
In classical-PoW, 100% of the compute and energy spent mining a block goes to gathering and verifying transactions and finding a PoW solution.
In zkPoW, some of the compute and energy goes to gathering and verifying transactions and finding a PoW solution, and some of it goes to generating useful ZKPs, which make make the native asset (like $NOCK) more valuable.
These are nuanced differences but they make a big impact in the functionally of the chain and the potential for each asset.
@jonathanccadams Yes. Based on the biblical record and historical evidence for the empty tomb and post-resurrection appearances, I affirm that Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised him from the dead.
Because it’s the first model that can be mistaken for a real person, Griffin requires safety considerations before it can be released publicly. The full research preview covers how it works, how we tested it and the safety measures that have to come first: https://t.co/FHNOyTXnjR
@Anol500@brezshares@nockchain Will you feel the same once it’s all shipped?
Because personally I think @Nockchain is going to be hands-down the ultimate PoW chain at that point.
Feel free to worry about whether we can execute on our vision.
But you’re doing a great job of highlighting what @Nockchain’s vision is.
By focusing on building up the foundation, a no pre-mine PoW chain that’s ZK-native, all of those features fall out naturally.
$NOCK is compute-backed money. It will be programmable. It will be private.
All of those are features that come from Proofs.
Is the $NOCK pivot in the room with us right now?
This is a pre-launch talk I gave in 2023.
Proof of Useful Work. Privacy. Programmability.
All built on Zero Knowledge Proofs.
That was @Nockchain at inception, and that’s @Nockchain now.
I get that your fragile narrative needs some way to spin anyone else in the Proof of Useful Work space negatively, but there’s no need to lie or make things up.
We have a different focus from your favorite bag, and have been aiming for Proof of Useful Work before anyone else.
Multiple coins exist in the world, and that’s okay.
