@DrAndrewSchwarz For me it’s all about strategy & alignment. Does business view IT as a partner? What is the organizational strategy? IT strategy? Do we live by our strategy, or is it just a page in a binder on a dusty shelf? And with whom do I want to align my career?
@MMattLSU @DrAndrewSchwarz I agree @MMattLSU, for me specifically, my board of directors do seem to be open to change, therefore the younger upper managers grow frustrated with every squash of a new idea or propsal. No matter the size.
@DrAndrewSchwarz Pulled into MickieDs to grab my daughter dinner on the way to her softball pitching lessons Thursday. Was told, “our system’s down; we’re only accepting cash for value menu items only.” I said, “huh! ok, Ty,” and pulled right into the Wendy’s next door.
@DrAndrewSchwarz Most importantly cost vs opportunity cost, function of current system vs functionality with upgrade and transition solutions must be considered.
@DrAndrewSchwarz If I’m being frank, I find myself moving back to center on the role of data in my day to day. From nearly none to data overload to now somewhere in the middle. I don’t consider all data for all decisions. Only some more tedious decisions.
@tijamassey @DrAndrewSchwarz Yes, I would agree. However, I’d consider it a pretty ‘big boy’ move to do. I’m sure employee buy in what not an easy sell!
@DrAndrewSchwarz I organize multiple breakfast, lunch and dinner meetings monthly. Panera is always a top pick thanks to the delivery service. Consistently working through lunch, we are ‘too busy’ to leave work and everyone wants a healthy-ish option. Panera checks both boxes.
@tijamassey @DrAndrewSchwarz Your reminding me her natural inclination for precise recipes was an ‘a-hah’ moment. Not sure why this hadn’t occurred to me before.
@DrAndrewSchwarz @annav1ckers Given the turnover of her store managers, I think not. However, it seems there would be room to discuss retention and recruitment of higher skilled managers over short tenured college students.
@DrAndrewSchwarz To be wildly successful, organizations much learn to clone their skills. One would do this by having network partners extend their reach. Work smarter, not harder. Expanding a footprint and building partnerships.
@DrAndrewSchwarz UPS brought into wide-use the UPC coding to track packages; Walmart used up the chain information to give data to suppliers; Amazon has figured out how to deliver products same day. Which, personally, keeps me out of Walmart almost completely. Huge for many consumers.
