@gilbertjimp Years ago found out my grandmother fell for "Microsoft called bc you've been hacked and sold you shady antivirus for $100/month" scams. Gently explained everything to her, helped her fix with her bank, cleaned her PC.
She has since fallen for the exact same thing 4 more times.
@jeremymonline@regularaugust I've always thought "don't talk to me before I've had my coffee" was more of a Gen X or maybe Boomer thing. I was definitely hearing it in the 90s when I was a Millennial child.
@comfypari I'm thinking of all of the mean, vindictive, emotionally immature customers I had to deal with when I worked fast food jobs. If the professionalism wall protects me from the way a lot of people treat others, I don't care if it's "fake".
@alittleleader Tbf though, I had a friend that would spontaneously send me poems, after I had made it clear I didn't want them, from haikus to like 12 lines. That was also obnoxious.
@MaskedHottiee Agree and also think being a DEI executive in a time when the word DEI is unpopular and some have knee-jerk reactions, may have possibly factored
@yslnadi Very true. But staying up past midnight anyways? *Amazing*. The most fun hours you will ever have, legitimately. So hard not to make the bad decision every time.
@frmlfr I totally get why people self-medicating with drugs is such an issue. Alcohol can taste good, and when I'm a little drunk, my constant plaguing anxiety DISAPPEARS in a way no SSRI has ever been able to reach. (Though I'm sure the effect would lessen if I did it more.)
@ablata_at_alba To be fair, at an above average number of the places I've worked, the HR workers have been burned out jerks who went out of their way to make basic things like payroll questions a confrontational slog. Also had some great ones, but I do think there's a pattern with that job.
@_aarvlo_@SuperFloxes Also, zoo animals usually aren't neutered or spayed. Allowing them to have sex is often good for their well-being. But you want to do it wisely so you don't get inbreeding-- so, that also becomes a breeding program!
@_aarvlo_@SuperFloxes carry out things like rewilding. A LOT of the money to support those efforts will come from the public wanting to see animals at zoos all across the world. (If you don't have enough animals automatically, better to get the ones you need from breeding than poachers.)
@SuperFloxes I remember BIO 101, girl gave a presentation on why zoos are bad. We raised these arguments.
She said "I just think humans should build their homes where animals aren't already living!"
I asked her, where on this earth can you find a single sq ft with no animals?
