I've made the hard decision to close @noentry_arts. A few years of health problems + a new full time job mean it's difficult to continue. I hope the a/c stands as a record of resistance & I'd like to thank you so much for every contribution. Please continue to fight arts ageism!

Sometimes I think it’s slightly counterintuitive as well to say you’re offering opportunities to working class people and then capping it at 25? Life gets in the way especially when you don’t have money- we can’t all explore our passions in our early twenties
in the meantime artists of all disciplines warn the new uk gov: support the arts or leave them as a "playground of the privately educated"(Steve McQueen) @guardian
removing age bars is 1 way to support those without the time/resources to achieve young

just a reminder that i have a book deadline in august & v sadly can't maintain this a/c as often as i'd like to, so apologies if i don't get to your tweets - back in september...
@DebEdgington@noentry_arts Stage Directors UK @StageDirectors recently did a census of its members, including data on gender, age, and motherhood responsibilities. Women, older directors, and directors with children are all very unrepresented. https://t.co/wizMjg8g8Q
pls clarify @WiltonMusicHall? are you looking for emerging directors who may or may not be young or are you looking for emerging directors AND young directors who have already emerged - you just want them bc they're young? who're you looking to help here?

so nice to have so many new sexbot followers (thx musk's twitter!). they all look quite young, but i hope they're all supporting erotic content creators in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond...
A ps to this. There are so many reasons why people start writing plays late (I started at 40). Not being part of theatre world, not knowing you can write plays, lack of confidence, isolation, lack of connections, raising kids, fear, being a slow developer
Leading playwrights including @NellLeyshon and Rona Munro have called on theatres to support older emerging playwrights, warning the industry risks missing out on "radical" voices without this.

📢Calling all artists!
Applications for the Artists Care Exchange are now open. This unique training bursary is open to artists with an interest and background in the arts and older people in a care context. https://t.co/cDOfGPVMD8 @Age_Opp@BealtaineFest
@Forbes_Carbines@cjmfield@exitthelemming@ArtsEmergency Thx-I'm on hiatus over the summer while I finish writing a book-but, yes, age barriers on arts opportunities exclude anyone who had a tougher start, due to class, finances, health + a range of other issues. This a/c raises questions and sometimes persuades organisations to change
Hi - this is just to let everyone know that I have a book deadline over the summer so, sadly, won't be able to maintain the account. I'll be back in September with some wonderful new additions to the @noentry_arts team, for more and better challenges to ageism in the arts!
