Most Nigerians think Nigeria is rich and can afford to provide basic amenities without taxes or borrowing. Quick fact:

NewYork City - Population: 20m - Budget: $110bn

Lagos State - Population: 22m - Budget: $2.1bn

Nigeria - Population: 220m - Budget: $34.1bn

Newyork's budget for 20 million people is 3 times Nigeria's budget for 220 million people.

South Africa's budget for 60 million people is 3 times Nigeria's budget for 220 million people.

Even if 🇳🇬politicians do not steal a dime, our budget is way too week to make any significant impact. We have a revenue problem; taxes and strategic borrowing is the way forward.

But people will still find a way to argue against the fact regardless.
