You aren't thinking about the implications of what you're saying.

Police are not legally required to stop the shooter, and they've allowed active shooters to rampage in the past.
Police are on average really horrible shots, and statistically just as likely to hit a bystander.
Police were not engaging with the shooter, so you are saying that if someone who isn't an officer thinks they can do something... they shouldn't.

You seem to be incapable of thinking past the first layer of what you've said, and comprehend the repercussions.

Flawless logic. Shooting in that situation is bad, because people were fleeing and someone could be hit? I wasn't aware that the bullets police shoot aren't able to hit bystanders... so by your standards it'd be irresponsible for anyone to stop the active shooter.
You think that if someone is able to potentially stop a mass shooter they should instead let the slaughter continue, because as someone is shooting a bunch of people a bystander *might* be hit.

You think that after letting it continue that we should leave it to poorly trained police, who legally don't have an obligation to actually engage the shooter. The same police who are statistically more likely to hit the wrong person, or hit a bystander. We should rely on those police?

@dragoninapond Law enforcement typically shoot only when qualifying and that's it, they're notoriously horrible at shooting. I shared the stats and armed civilians are statistically more likely to stop a mass shooting than police.

Cops and service members are notoriously bad at shooting, people just assume that they're good.

While in the military I shot tens of thousands of rounds through rifles/machine guns, and a few hundred through handguns. It eliminated any recoil anticipation I had, but technique wise I didn't start improving until after I got out and went back to being a civilian.

I'd argue that civilians in the 2A sphere are just as likely to be trained/proficient as law enforcement. This is especially the case with handguns specifically.
