Winter Gold is the continuation of Noir’s Gold series celebrating human potential and the spirit of the Olympic Games first presented for Tokyo 2020.
In Winter Gold, Noir once again distills sport to essential gestures and motion, each driven by a single Winter Olympic discipline to mark the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. The airborne movements of Snowboarding Halfpipe, the explosive arc of alpine skiing and the compressed speed of Bobsleigh are all rendered by Noir through colour, line and rhythm. Also represented is Ski Mountaineering, a discipline making its debut at Milano Cortina 2026.
The Winter Gold series comprises of circular 40cm tondo paintings and 120cm by 120cm paintings. The tondos are available now through Thierry Noir Primary.

Super Classic Heads
Noir's Super Classic Heads have been an ever present within his artistic oeuvre since their origins in the 1980s origins on small pieces of found cardboard that Noir would frame and sell directly to the patrons of bars and restaurants in the Charlottenburg district of West Berlin on his regular nightly visits. In the early 2000s Noir then gravitated towards 30cm by 24cm canvases owing to the readily availability of this pre-fabricated format in Berlin art supply shops. Today, while the recognisable dimensions remain, the canvases are hand made using Italian cloth.
Known informally within collector circles as ‘24x30s‘, Super Classic Heads are arguably Noir’s most recognisable and essential small paintings. Distilling everything iconic about Noir’s visual language and artistic style into a single artwork, their creation forms a daily meditation for Noir to which he often returns after particularly challenging projects involving prolonged periods of travel.
Minutes after completion, Noir titles and dates each Super Classic Head on the reverse in marker to, in his own words, ‘complete the painting'. As important to Noir as the visual image, the titles consist of the overheard daily philosophies and concerns compiled and caught by Noir throughout the bars and restaurants of 1980s West Berlin. In 2025 Noir carries forward this same ‘street philosophy’ imagining what is still being talked about and discussed all the while with his now characteristic humorous and surrealistic twists.
