We’re out here at Laura Conover’s office this morning asking her to end her complicity with the massive number of deaths in the Pima County Jail.
Today we remember the life of Aaron Moore, who was killed by the jail Tuesday.
Aaron Moore was in the jail on a parole violation and possession of a small amount of personal use narcotics. He was not a danger to us.
We are not afraid of people who use drugs, we are afraid of the cops who arrest them and the jailers who hold them.

Wade Welch was beaten and tased to death by guards in the Pima County Jail 408 days ago. Conover still refuses to take any action to address this murder.

There have been 27 deaths in the Pima County Jail since Laura Conover took office.
These deaths are entirely preventable by measures that are within Conover’s power. Why does she refuse to act?

We want to invite all people impacted by imprisonment to come together and build community and power. We are starting a group where people can share experiences of being locked up, supporting people who are imprisoned or losing someone inside.
It's also a space where we can strategize how we can fight against these injustices.
This group can be a space for art making, letter writing, altar creating, storytelling, organizing training, sharing advice on navigating the system, etc.
People incarcerated at Pima County jail continue dying at alarming rates. Many haven't had a trial. Read @jbwashing's reporter's notebook for a deep look: Officials disagree on how to classify deaths, how we learned Joseph Zarate’s story, reviewing records

@AZLuminaria Meanwhile, as abuse and deaths continue in the jail, the county is considering raising taxes to spend about $400 million to build a new jail.
Community members recently expressed their fierce opposition to that proposal. https://t.co/Rm5ymTeA0e
@AZLuminaria Wade was one of 12 people to die in the jail's custody in 2022, and among 38 people who died in the jail or shortly after release since January 2022.

@AZLuminaria Last November, the Pima County Attorney's Office told me that the case was still being investigated by the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team.
A year after Wade's death, no charges have been brought.
The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Today marks 1 year since Wade Welch died in Pima County jail, minutes after guards tackled and repeatedly tased him.
I wrote about Wade's death in the first of a long series of investigative articles for @AZLuminaria

Pima County Attorney Laura Conover cites the expense and time it takes for her office to handle an increasing amount of public records requests as reasons for her push for new rules. https://t.co/2r2LmF0qjf
