Every year, a group of researchers, including @nojustesen, holds an international tournament to see who can create the best AI for playing Blood Bowl. In this article by @tjohnlinward from @WargamerCom, you'll learn why its fun and why they do it: https://t.co/Trm2Wuf30d #ai
We're excited to announce that the Summer School on AI and Games returns for 2023! This year we are partnering with @modl_ai , @Microsoft , and @MSFTResearch Campus to bring you an exclusive in-person event in Cambridge, United Kingdom (Full post on thread).

@togelius "I don’t know what the future of science looks like. Maybe we’ll [...] whisper our findings to each other on the dance floor of techno-raves." Yes, please 🙏
We are thrilled to announce that we’ve raised $8.4 million to redefine the game development process. We aim to make it more efficient and enjoyable.
We’re eager to get the product to you soon; this funding will help us get there faster. https://t.co/pBIDWkAqFw
Congrats to Frederic Bair for winning Bot Bowl IV at @ieee_cog and to Niaamo for winning the ML prize sponsored by @modl_ai. See the results at https://t.co/3BIUnAFkXF. Below is a highlight showing the winner Drefsante (blue) defending and scoring against MotBot (red). #bloodbowl
Interested in doing research on foundation models for video games? If you have a Master's degree with experience in ML and want to do an industrial PhD (https://t.co/kdp2ZQarBQ) together with @ITUkbh and @modl_ai, reach out! Please RT 👐
10 days left to submit your bot to Bot Bowl IV 🏆 It's the fourth AI competition in Blood Bowl 🤖 The first submissions are already in and I can't wait to see how they play 🏈 More details at https://t.co/HG9Xxtlorj.
We just published a new Bot Bowl tutorial on MCTS. Our simple implementation is able to beat the random baseline on the full board! https://t.co/tfQ9YVQfyR
@BatuAytemiz The Secret of Our Success: How Culture Is Driving Human Evolution, Domesticating Our Species, and Making Us Smarter by Joseph Henrich. I love how he starts out by making humans look super weak.
@natesolon Search is conceptually simple. When you know the rules of the game, you can search, i.e. play. Playing chess well is, however, hard. It requires heuristics, intuition, and the ability to generalize to new situations. This must be learned. Machine learning is hard.
A show match was organized last year between MimicBot and AndyDavo who's a strong Blood Bowl player and Twitch streamer. AndyDavo won 2-0, making it clear that there's still some way to go. Watch the match here: https://t.co/FOI2TF8Qu7
We are ready for Bot Bowl IV - the fourth AI competition in the board game #bloodbowl at @ieee_cog. Board games are not (yet) passé for AI! More info and tutorials here: https://t.co/3BIUnAFkXF
Until last year, scripted bots have won the top places at Bot Bowl while still being well below human level. Last year, however, a machine learning bot called MimicBot developed by @nicolapezzotti won first place!
