Nkosinathi Nkomo was a Soweto born , UCT student and inventor. He died at the age of 24 after gaining attention from the national media for his invention of water purification system aimed at addressing the drought "crisis" in the Western Cape.

His product & company - AquaRenu began gaining attention in October 2017. He was dead by December 2017 after allegedly falling from a multi-storey building. In February 2018, Hellen Zille, tweeted congratulating RATIEF KRIGE, a white guy - for inventing water purification system to save Cape Town, a water purification system exactly the same as Nkosinathi's. Nkosinathi was found dead in the rain with his phone damaged from the rain.
