MYSOL foundation has today on the 22 of December 2025 started distributing groceries and clothing vouchers to disadvantaged homes, making sure that no family sleeps hungry this festive season.Indeed Mysol Foundation is at the center of restoring the dignity of a black child and black families.
On Monday (Dec 15) an anonymous donor walked into a PEP store in Aberdeen, Eastern Cape, and paid off all 260 unpaid lay-bys, totalling R132 500.
The Good Samaritan simply asked store staff how many lay-bys were outstanding and then settled the full amount on the spot.
“We were completely surprised,” says Beyers van der Merwe, PEP Chief Marketing Executive. “This act of kindness gave 260 families the relief and dignity of taking home essentials such as school items and baby clothing — many just in time for the festive season.”
The PEP Lay-by Buddy Initiative has raised more than R3.6 million since 2020 and supported more than 150 000 families nationwide. This year, Pepkor added R1 million to extend the initiative’s reach.
The initiative was inspired by public response to a man paying off every single outstanding lay-by at a PEP store in Mossel Bay in 2019.
