Trying for weeks to get through to @ato_gov_au on the phone and keep getting "we are in peak demand period and can't answer your call". I even wrote them a letter and put in post and no reply. Is there any time of day / week I can get through on the phone?
@Oohgpwales @RobynCJohnston Hmmmm. Yeah for that situation I'd probably want to rotate back through busy maternity hospital for at least a few weeks to get some recency of practice and muscle memory.
@RobynCJohnston @Oohgpwales For what kind of context? You can learn Kiwi delivery pretty easy at weekend courses like ALSO but the tricky thing is judgement around when to do it and when not to. Which takes interpretation of labour progress and fetal wellbeing. GPs in Aus do 6 months DRANZCOG for this.
As promised for #LongCOVID peeps. I have had #COVID 3x and I still struggle with #LongCOVID because it flares with every infection. I likely keep getting it because of the immunocompromise with #LongCOVID. π§΅on the who, what and how based on the nature paper mentioned on @abc730
It seems wildly unfair that there are NO restrictions so people can just freely wander around infecting each other.
Whereas some of us are diligently testing and masking to protect ourselves and others and we still can't escape it because it is fricking everywhere right now.
So whose Christmas is COVID cancelled? π
My brother is visiting me. Tested positive 3 days after arrival. We cancelled our interstate travel plans to protect parents and grandmother. Turns out Nanna is positive anyway.
My poor Nanna will be turning 96 on Christmas and will be in isolation. I feel so sad for her, and for my brother whose first family trip in 3 years has been spent isolating in my spare room.
@Nishaobgyn@nadahamad @mariamtokhi @NeelaJan@drlyndarose @tarneen And let's face it, when people use IMGs they often mean non-white.
My clinic in Canada said they didn't want to hire IMGs. Until we pointed out that half its doctors already *were* IMGs (trained in Ireland, USA and Oz) but we were all white so of course they didn't mean us. π€¦

Hey #medtwitter. Over at EM:RAP's https://t.co/zGp5M0QsZH podcast I'm looking for some new voices to mix into our generalist segment. Are you an amazing family physician who has skills beyond the primary care clinic? Are you a great speaker? Get in touch or nominate a colleague!
I used to be vaccine hesitant. Had my kids on a modified schedule and felt I was VERY educated. Here are posts I made in 2010 about visiting public health with Charlie, 2 months at the time.
By this point though, some critical thinking had started to sink in. Let me explain.
Even just reading this abstract is making my heart race. I had an awful work event this year and it ticks every single one of these boxes; perceived preventable, high emotion, sensory input, prior r-ship, lack of support, investigation proceedings. No wonder I'm so traumatised.
Which events are experienced as traumatic by obstetricians and gynaecologists, and why? A qualitative analysis from a cross-sectional survey and in-depth interviews @BMJ_Open https://t.co/nLvpfkvwHO π§΅1/4
Baby boomers did a pretty good job teaching their millennial daughters that they could be anything they wanted to be and a pretty terrible job of preparing their sons for what that would mean for them as husbands and fathers
