In an editorial, the newspaper also criticises this risky practice, which may have profound psychological consequences.

I admit, this has rattled me. For the past few years I've had vandalism, abuse and threats because I say what most people think. I’ve had my letterbox ripped off, rubbish thrown over the fence, messages written outside my house, my car vandalised, eggs thrown at my car, animal poo left on doorstep, multiple messages left on my car, abused in the street and people sticking their fingers up and spitting at me as I drive, inbox messages telling me they pity my kids, online comments that I need to be r*ped with a rusty chainsaw, constant election sign damage and more.

Why? Because they disagree with my views. They don't know me, but they hate me.

I didn't think Australia, let alone Hobart, was capable of this political violence. When I attended the women's rights event at Parliament House, that changed. It was intense and changed my sense of safety in Hobart permanently. There were dozens of deranged and deluded angry men in that crowd with potential to harm. I saw them, they looked possessed.

And what have my colleagues done? They’ve set the scene and fueled this. Lohberger described myself and others Nazis. I was ridiculed and laughed at in the Council Chamber. The Council literally broke discrimination and RTI law to silence me.

I hold the politicians who describe everyday people as Nazis, racists, bigots, extremists, 'anti-trans' partly to blame. I also blame the media, especially the disgraceful @abcnews for failing to cover all fair perspectives accurately.

My views are fair and reasonable. My views are shared by millions. Accept it. Get used to it. Respect it.
