While I’m searching for and testing business ideas, I’m gonna experiment with some simple old school hustle:
Facebook Marketplace/Ebay listings.
Can I make $1k in a month just reselling stuff I don’t use anymore?
I’m about to find out.
A good question to ask yourself is "what would happen this year if you were both the luckiest and best person in the world at what you do"
A friend asked me this and it hit, cause as much as i like my private equity job, well, even if i originate a deal myself, work twice as much as my colleagues, and it ends up making my fund $20M, well my total comp for the year will just be +$50k
Sure it's not bad and i'm already extremely lucky with what i earn etc, but when you're a really ambitious guy there is sth mentally draining about knowing that even if you're insanely good, get insanely lucky and basically everything goes your way, nothing THAT crazy can actually happen to you
Cause you can't dream. You don't really have this little thing in the back of your head going "what if this year?" "what if this week?" "what if this goes well?"
It's why i just love this twitter game. I can spend 30 mins writing sth, worst case it gets 8 likes and i forget about it, but there is always this tiny chance i wake up and it did 2m views, some random insane person dm'd me, i meet someone interesting, get pulled into a business opportunity, whatever
And then i can just take another shot tomorrow. then another one the day after
Not saying everyone should become a founder / creator either, obviously the reason jobs like mine are so good is you get a pretty absurd floor and barely any downside
But increasingly think very ambitious people need at least one thing in their life where, if they get exceptionally good + exceptionally lucky, something genuinely disproportionate can happen to them

I love the onset of fall. The air turns from still and humid - to breezy with an insinuation of cold - a coming dark rain. It feels invigorating. It’s a time of human creativity that parallels the turning of the leaves - a time to feel alive.
Sale #4 complete:
Flyers Jersey - $40 (FB marketplace)
Rolling into the holiday weekend at $270 total.
My initial $1k goal feels very attainable but it could just be beginners luck, we shall see.

Hunter S. Thompson refused to come to the studio.
The only way Conan could get him on the show was to meet him on a farm in upstate New York. To shoot guns. And drink hard liquor.
They set up a full bar in a field. A bartender in a tuxedo handed Hunter a shotgun he’d never fired. Then an M60. They blew apart stuffed animals and a Bill Buckner target while Conan tried to look like this was a normal interview.
Hunter howled. Conan looked like he might not make it home.
This is still the least talk-show interview ever done on a talk show.
Genius making Conan come to him, or just the most dangerous booking in late-night history?
Everyone I truly admire is just going for it. There is no gap between the things they say they’re going to do and the things they do. They just do. Close the gap. The wider that space is, the less trust you have. Of course you don’t believe yourself. Of course others don’t believe you. You’re not doing anything. Most people don’t actually do anything. Do something. Be decisive. Take action. Quit worrying so much about making the right decision. Make the decision right. Watch the world open up for you. See where it takes you. You might not go where you thought you would.
But at least you’re going.
What the personal development gurus don’t tell you is that there are diminishing returns
Eventually you understand yourself enough, know what you want, and know what it takes to get there
Beyond that, endlessly working on yourself becomes another way to avoid living and doing. Forget therapists, self help books, podcasts, and the rest of the BS
Figure out the few things that matter for you/your life/your family, execute, then have an honest convo with yourself every few months about where you’re at and repeat
That’s it
