You don’t need to choose. You can take the path of Einstein, who used a 'tedious' job to fund the stability his genius required. Or you can follow the martyrs, Van Gogh, Dostoevsky, and Diogenes, and accept the price of not paying your rent.

In their account of capitalism, surely the most impressive since Marx's, Deleuze and Guattari describe capitalism as a kind of dark potentiality which haunted all previous social systems. Capital, they argue, is the 'unnamable Thing', the abomination, which primitive and feudal societies 'warded off in advance'. When it actually arrives, capitalism brings with it a massive desacralization of culture. It is a system which is no longer governed by any transcendent Law; on the contrary, it dismantles all such codes, only to re-install them on an ad hoc basis. The limits of capitalism are not fixed by fiat, but defined (and re- defined) pragmatically and improvisationally.
Just as I thought I had broken free, I fell into a psychotic state a few months ago when it struck me that Spinoza, in fact, proves that time moves backwards, and I haven’t found peace since.
@tenshi_anna No need for melancholy, you have lost nothing. You have merely arrived at the vanishing point of the metaphysics of nothingness. You are exactly where you started from. This is why the only way is, always, to start with, and from, truth.
I believe Deleuze's "machine" is not technophilia — it echoes Spinoza’s spiritual automaton, Spinoza's own reinterpretation of Descartes’ automaton, stripped of dualism and reinserted into an immanent, pantheistic order. Leibniz will later spiritualize it again with monads
When Deleuze chose to use the word "machine" it always turned me off as technophilic, but now I understand why he needs it: he wants to use the word precisely because it doesn't resemble, is alien in any sense to what it makes possible — Desire, Face, etc.
Spinoza didn’t title his book ‘Ontology’, he’s too shrewd for that; he titles it ‘Ethics’ which is a way of saying that, whatever the importance of my speculative propositions may be, you can only judge them at the level of the ethics that they envelope or implicate.
The phrase "God is dead" is not a speculative proposition but a dramatic proposition, ‘the’ dramatic proposition ‘par excellence’ — God cannot be made the object of synthetic knowledge without death entering into him.
