What a day… so the review embargo for mewgenics lifts in 6 hours. that means 6+ years of our lives that we poured into this game will be boiled down to a number.. I’m tired, stressed and excited at the same time, and also worried about getting no sleep and being a zombie all day… wish us luck!
All right - that's a wrap. Thank you for all your questions. We're going to go back and work on the game now - next time we speak, we'll hopefully have things to show. I can't wait!
It’s been a week since we announced Divinity, our next RPG, and a lot has become lost in translation.
Larian’s DNA is agency. Everything we work towards is to the benefit of our teams, games, and players. A better work day, and a better game. Our successes come from empowering people to work in their own way and bring the best out of their skill & craft, so that we can make the best RPGs we can possibly make.
In that context, it would be irresponsible for us not to evaluate new technologies. However, our processes are always evolving, and where they are not efficient or fail to align with who we are, we will make changes.
To give you more insight, we’ll do an AMA featuring our different departments after the holiday break, in which you’ll get the opportunity to ask us any questions you have about Divinity and our dev process directly.
We’ll announce the date in the new year. In the meantime, I wish you all happy holidays!
Surprise!
The spiritual predecessor to BG3. Single player. Coop multiplayer. PVP multiplayer. Turn based combat. Master the elements. Teleport, kill, loot (nearly) everyone and everything. Fly. Cry. Laugh. Don't recruit the squirrel. Recruit it. Lizard companions. Play as an undead.
Worth a try if you ask me.
It's called the Hellstone. We're all ncreasingly divorced from physicality, so we wanted to build a monument for not only our international teams to gather around, but for the rest of the gaming community to rally around. We wanted people to get excited for the next big game on their list, and we wanted to do it in a way that employed skill & craft, by hand, to drive people outside to see it, and to talk about it. So many people assumed it was AI, or even a "UE5 render." Expectations are understandably low.
We saw by the reaction, however, that excitement is at an all-time high. We hope that your favourite game is announced, whatever it may be. We hope that the people making it feel empowered enough to go out and talk to you about it. We hope that the physical world still plays a large role in the adventure that is the video games industry. We at Larian will continue to invest in ways to be tangible, and present, and open with what is clearly an excited and engaged audience.
The level of skill & craftsmanship in creative spaces has never been higher, and I hope we can all make time to go out into the world and appreciate it when we see it. That physicality between the process and audience is that maintains a necessary level of mutual respect. It is very much ok to be excited about video games, and we can't wait to see you in person, when we're ready, on the road to Divinity. Oh and thanks for not setting it on fire.
I've been away. I've been busy. Watching, reading, listening, making, living.
Ballad of Wallas Island, Sinners, One Battle After Another, Train Dreams, Ugly Stepsister are my films of 2025. With the always caveat that I might have missed my future favourite.
A good ending. Happy for Xun, Kawaner, Yudeling, Haruka, and Sirris. I hope they get to develop a lot more of it. And also good on WOTC for fixing this swiftly.
