Half their mandate is to promote LNG, which raises domestic gas costs, so the cost argument seems a little disingenuous.

His riding was almost a tie vote, and going from the most partisan role (whip) to the least would show deference to the split electorate

Half the losses are likely due to cooling, so cooler climates and adding heat recovery will improve that a lot. WBG semiconductors will also cut conversion losses significantly, soon

@RobertD11359976 @JessePeltan Being able to use power directly is certainly better, but increasing generation by 25% to gain the flexibility to use it any time is a good trade-off when needed.

Not that different a concept from simple cycle nat gas or & LNG, which are less efficiency than combined/cogen.

Not only are they electrochemical storage, they have much lower efficiency than batteries. And they're quickly being depleted, unlike the renewables that fuelled them

@xiaowang1984 @tylerhnorris Yeah, there are some efficiency gains from DC-only, but they are modest and getting smaller with SiC and other high-efficiency conversion tech proliferation.

The main benefits to DC-native are bumpless power that doesn't need utility approval, and easy battery integration

@tylerhnorris You would need to reconnect the panels to stay within the max voltage input for the battery...look at the panels data sheets for open circuit voltage and adjust for temperature to get in the right ballpark, panel voltages add in series.

@tylerhnorris With products currently on the market, wiring the PV output to a small portable battery/inverter (Ecoflow, Bluetti, etc) with solar inputs is probably the cheapest/simplest way to get access to your panels' output.
