Hey, guess what?! You can disagree with my views on Zionism without resorting to dehumanization.
And guess what happens when you dehumanize Jewish people who criticize Zionism?
You’re showing the world EXACTLY what you’ve been doing to Palestinians this whole time.
I will no longer be engaging with Zionists because not a single one acts in good faith. None. So congrats. You’ve kept your polarizing safety net. No nuance for any of us, just hatred apparently.
I’m so done. I’m so fucking done. I tried to be patient, I understand that so much of this comes from Jewish intergenerational trauma.
But I’m fucking done with excuses and dodging accountability.
How are we going to sit here and advocate for Jewish safety when we’ve never actually seen a world where Jews are safe? How are we going to act like Israel the military superpower is somehow the key to safety? Like HELLO?
I’m so fucking tired of Zionism acting like it’s the center of the fucking universe. No, you don’t fucking get to act like the tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths just don’t matter because of your idea of “Jewish safety”.
Do you know what Jewish safety even looks like?
What in the actual FUCK is wrong with people???? Why do you have an issue with human rights? Where the FUCK is the nuance? Fuck every person who has no empathy to the people who have been killed and instead are calling those who speak out traitors. Fuck that.
I’m not asking you to chant “Free Palestine,” to wear a Keffiyeh, or to praise Hamas.
Right now I’m asking for the bare minimum.
I’m asking you to find your humanity.
I have a question for the Jewish Zionists who believe that my advocacy for Palestine is rooted in some sort of self-hatred or internalized antisemitism:
What if I told you that my solidarity with Palestine comes from a deep-rooted LOVE for Judaism?
It still wouldn't absolve Israel from committing war crimes. It wouldn't excuse the indiscriminate bombing. It wouldn’t make illegal settlements in the West Bank any more legal. It wouldn’t prevent the next generation of Palestinian children from trying to avenge their families.
Tonight is a reminder that as far as I think I’ve come in deconstructing racism, I still have ways to go.
Because I’m still in disbelief, meanwhile Black Americans have learned to expect nothing better from our system.
