Stargate was an overwhelming success because of the writers, producers, and cast members who gave it a beating heart and a luminous soul... you can't recapture that kind of success by just slapping the name "Stargate" on some generic sci fi/action tv show.

The very people who made Stargate a multi-billion dollar franchise in the first place were back and ready to take the franchise to new heights... and due to the short-sightedness of one of your executives, you showed them the door.
