A young boy I know was sent to go and learn carpentry by his mother after his secondary school.

He never wanted to learn anything, he went there and started misbehaving, st0le his masters phone and was caught.

He was sent out of the workshop, the money his mother paid for him to learn went to waste.

Few months later he started dressing nice and locking hairs.

Recently he got a bike for himself, and also heard he bought a land around for more than 6M naira.

Called my mum today and she told me that someone is angry with me “my kid sis” she said I didn’t call her on her birthday even though i posted her on my status.

There was a time I was making a mistake as a human. When I realized it, I decided to correct it, but in the process, I lost a lot of people I called friends.

Some people are around because the mistake you can't see benefits them. The moment awareness hits you, they shed their shell and let you see who they really are. They were only there for the benefit of your mistake.

That's why you can never underestimate the power of self-awareness.

There's one guy who was always spending money on the people around him.

He'd gladly give money to his friends, and even foot the bills whenever they went out.

He also helped many of his family members and was sponsoring her girlfriend's university education in addition to getting her an apartment.

Then one day, he decided to act like he was broke. So he stopped sending money and started telling everyone he was struggling.

His friends soon changed towards him and started saying he shouldn't have been reckless with his money. One even said “Shebi na you dey always show sey you get money.”

As if that wasn't enough, some of his family members also started calling him irresponsible, saying he had wasted all his money trying to impress others.

And his girlfriend?
She broke up with him, too, after a few weeks of pretending she cared.

The funny thing was that they all thought he had actually gone broke.

He didn't bother correcting them.
He simply moved on with his life and cut them all off.

What you want to say is LOUT (a rude or violent person). ✅

4. PRACTICALIZE
There's no such standard English word. ❌
Say “practise” or “put into practice.” ✅

5. INFAMOUS
It doesn't mean not famous. ❌
It means famous for something bad. ✅

6. DISINTERESTED
It doesn't mean uninterested. ❌
It means impartial or unbiased. ✅

7. IRREGARDLESS
That's nonstandard. ❌
What you intend to say is REGARDLESS. ✅

my aunty, the one who used to reject suitors, has finally accepted what she once refused.

growing up, I used to hear my mum talk about her. she kept turning them down because it had to be someone from one particular church.

people talked while she was in her prime. she didn't care. she held on until menopause hit her.

I was chatting with my mum the other day, and she said,

"nne, aunty unu is getting married"

me: "which of my aunties"

mum: "how many of them do you have? aunty Mercy o."

the first question I asked was,

"nne di mma... was it our church member?"

she said no.

so she married someone who was not from the church she spent her best years waiting on.

I called her and congratulated her.

but I couldn't stop thinking:

"why wait until late to settle down because of church, when she could have chosen someone in her prime and actually enjoyed the life she was saving for later?"
