Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang has been charged with violating 18 USC 951, acting in the United States as an illegal agent of the People’s Republic of China.
Wang appeared in federal court this afternoon for her arraignment. She agreed to plead guilty and resign from public office.
Wang admitted to acting as a foreign agent from at least 2020 through 2022. At the direction of the PRC government, she coordinated with individuals to promote PRC interests by spreading pro-PRC propaganda in the United States.
Wang faces a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.
🚨Hi, does everybody know that Alysa Liu's father, Arthur Liu, was a Tiananmen student leader in 1989 and was on the CCP's "most wanted" list for organizing pro-democracy protests and hunger strikes after the massacre?
He escaped China in the summer of 1989, fleeing first to Hong Kong before immigrating to the US as a political refugee at age 25, where he settled in California and rebuilt his life as a lawyer.
But the CCP never stopped monitoring him—even decades later, they continue to track and harass him through "transnational repression" schemes.
For example, in 2021-2022, the CCP hired spies and private investigators in the US to surveil Arthur and his family, including posing as a U.S. Olympic official to demand copies of their passports, installing GPS trackers on his car, and gathering derogatory information or Social Security numbers to intimidate him.
The U.S. Justice Department charged five individuals in 2022 for these acts on behalf of China's secret police, identifying Arthur as "Dissident 3" and Alysa as a "family member" in the complaints.
This harassment aimed to silence him on human rights issues, like CCP abuses against Uyghurs—which Alysa had posted about on Instagram.
The threats were so severe that when Alysa competed in the 2022 Beijing Olympics, the US government stepped in to protect her: The FBI warned Arthur in advance, and she received heightened security with at least two escorts at all times during her stay in China.
Arthur later said, "I had concerns about her safety. The U.S. government did a good job protecting her."
Despite a stranger approaching Alysa in Beijing and following her, asking her to go to his apartment, she competed safely.
This is a stark reminder of the CCP's long arm—reaching even into the US to suppress dissent. Alysa's Olympic gold in 2026 is not just a sports triumph; it's a symbol of freedom over oppression!
What do you think?
