“Children will always need homes; therefore adoption will/should always exist”
True premise. False conclusion.
You can care for and house children without purchasing them and erasing their identity.
It’s called guardianship.
@emilyalberart I thought this until I got to the point of being a step parent of a kid who's mother is a full blown manipulative narcissist.
Triggers all over the place reminding me of my afam... It's wild.
@emilyalberart 100%. And I get it, it's not like we chose it either.
However I have found friends who understand trauma so they can understand that aspect which helps.
If I can't talk about what's going on with me, how does the friendship work?
The difference was I didn't need their validation!
@emilyalberart Oh yeah, I had several friends, friends that were in our wedding in 2019 that I don't talk to anymore. Once I had something "real" and painful to talk about, all of a sudden I was having a pity party.
The whole time I was so hurt that's how me sharing my experience came off
I believe #adoption is like Stockholm syndrome for the #adoptee We are taken by strangers and are dependent upon them to survive. It’s not love it’s forced. The adoptee has no other option. #adoptedchameleon#adopteetwitter
@Adoptee420 I try really really hard to think before posting. In the moment I can feel 100% about sharing, then I look back and I'm like omfg. Can't believe I shared that.
I tend to not regret it but instead take note of how far I've come and being proud of myself for sharing such deep info.
@priscilla_zink What are you even replying to?
Just because you SAID they could visit and contact doesn't mean they felt comfortable.
Obviously they didn't.
Also, each situation and circumstance is different.
