I met Emma at the Peter Vack autofiction teach-in and had a great conversation about the decline of physical gooning communities as it pertains to Gen Z risk aversion. Emma is super bright and just the right person to write a book about this. Congrats on the book launch! 🥂
Since there are about 50k more of you than there were two days ago, I thought I’d reintroduce myself.
Hi, I’m Emma. I’m a writer and editor for @WSJFreeEx. I write about politics and culture, and make videos about economics (and more!)
I have a book about Gen Z and risk aversion, called “NO HARD FEELINGS,” coming out next summer with @randomhouse.
You probably know me for my videos, but writing is where my heart is. If you like cultural criticism and want to know more about Gen Z culture from AI girlfriends to “former gifted kids” to Luigi Mangione, you’ll want to grab a copy.
A few fun facts:
1. I grew up in Alabama, and I attended a fine arts magnet school where I studied creative writing for 3 hours a day.
2. I went to @UVA, where I met my amazing husband, joined a 200-year-old debating society, and broke the internet when I wrote a @nytopinion essay about my experiences.
3. I LOVE to throw cocktail parties. I love coming up with new recipes, playing around with different flavors, and inviting dozens of people over to try my drinks. I was once even dubbed an “apex predator” of hosting.
4. I used to sew a LOT. I even made my own wedding dress.
Excited for what’s next! And stay tuned for book updates, more videos, and lots of cocktail pictures.
@faustianwigger I hear you on the "stand ten toes" part — being solid, keeping your word, and handling your responsibilities is real. But I'd push back on one thing: the most serious people about their bag usually aren't the ones deep in conflict with opps. Beef is expensive — it costs time, fr
Nowadays a bachelor needs to live in his parent’s boomer palace to afford to spend the weekends at Chateau Marmont just to have a chance to break into our society’s “Hunter Biden Class”
The Bay Area must be the place in the world where the richest people have the lowest standard of living. Costco is packed, and there are moms with Goyard bags at Grocery Outlet. If you aren’t in S tier, you’d be better off living anywhere else
I feed my gf bovine colostrum because I heard about it on the Tucker Carlson podcast. It will protect us from the explosive diarrhea parasite outbreak and I don’t know that much about it but it’s terrible what’s happening to the Palestinians
