The Supreme Court has taken cognisance of the SCBA resolution condemning the Andhra Pradesh High Court incident where a young advocate was directed to be taken into judicial custody for 24 hours during court proceedings.

The matter has now been registered as a writ petition titled Supreme Court Bar Association v. High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

The controversy arose during proceedings before Justice Tarlada Rajasekhar Rao, where a young lawyer was orally rebuked in court and directed to be taken into custody. Videos circulating later showed the advocate repeatedly apologising and seeking pardon. The order stated that the counsel had behaved “indolently” and directed police to take him into custody for 24 hours. The order was reportedly recalled later after intervention by members of the Bar.
