I left because my wife and I were pregnant with our first kid, and her family is that stereotypical large hispanic family, very close, and she had 12 aunt's and uncles with their own kids, and kids' kids... So we decided to relocate to Costa Rica.
I didn't flee. I stayed in Canada until the startup I was working for was bought by Google, and I left the day after the deal closed. Been down here ever since.
I go back to Canada for canoe trips, see family, but my family that's not in CR is spread out all over the country, so it should become obvious that I left for my kids to grow up in a big, tight-knit family... I'll likely never return to live for other reasons, up to and including being denied entry into Canada on my Canadian passport... yeah, call bullshit because most will, but during the pandemic I tried to return, knowing I'd be quarantined because CR did vaccines by age group, and my age group was expected to be authorized for it 10 months later. That's the tip of the iceberg, but anyway.
So, I've built an ephemeral sandbox implementation, because it's fashionable these days...
Starts up in less than a second, and that's only because you're not just starting a vmm, you're starting a jailer, and some other stuff.
Need to really test it to see how to break out.
@Bookworm9226123@ClydeDoSomethin What part of what I said wasn't an explicit note that things have changed?
I swear, reading comprehension has taken a nose-dive in those decades.
I've been using a computer, that functions basically the same, using the same operating system since 20 years ago... and 20 years ago I was running an ISP whose whole business was getting people on the internet.
Imagine thinking that I'm saying nothing will change, when I'm explicitly recognizing it has changed. Wild, eh?
No it's not about ideology, it's more related to not working yourself up to keep enough of your brain focused on the things you can affect.
If you could, for instance, generate new eMudhra keys, then great, make that your priority... for most of us, we can't do that, so don't worry about generating the new keys; just update things in your stack that make client http calls, to stop trusting the eMudhra keys.
Why? because you control one and not the other.
Only took 4 years (honestly stopped trying years ago) to get the card in position 1 to turn off ECC. Now has all 48GB available instead of just under 46GB.
That's about 10400 tokens of logits of capacity for an LLM haha.
@HotAisle Mostly just an issue that was bugging me... counters also very very low, last 19 days, 3 errors. So not being able to disable it was just bugging me.
Also yeah, real operations no i want it on.
I manage 29 servers, and a 160 services, not all of which were infected, but I spent almost a day updating and protecting them. Why? because it was needed, and these things are in my control.
I don't worry about other php sites.
For years I have lived my online life to limit the impact of the site being compromised... it's why I built so much infrastructure that I control....that stuff is important to me, so I manage it.
@CreeCoder 11000 CRC (roughly USD$24 dollars)
I haven't paid over $100 CAD a month since 2011 when I left Canada...almost forgot how insane mobile plans were back home.
@ViridianBW@4rcherhume You seem to misunderstand my statement.
No use fretting about the vulnerabilities, if they affect you, deal with them, sure, but if they don't, you're already isolated from the impact among the things you can control. If you can't impart an impact, why spend mental energy on it?
