Earlier today, I had the privilege of receiving the Assistant Corps Commander, Philip Ogar, psc, MNIM, Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Island Command, alongside Special Marshal Mustapha Alabi and the FRSC Special Marshals team, on a familiarization visit.

Our deliberations focused heavily on strengthening traffic management, boosting public safety enlightenment, and tackling mutual concerns that directly impact the daily lives and well being of our residents.

As an administration deeply committed to responsive governance and community development, we welcome this synergy and look forward to robust collaboration with the FRSC to deliver practical solutions for our road users.

Together, we will continue building a safer, better, and more prosperous Lagos Island East.

I paid a nostalgic courtesy visit to Rangers International FC of Enugu, a club that remains a special part of my sporting journey and personal history.
Having been part of Rangers more than four decades ago, returning to the Flying Antelopes was truly emotional. Rangers will always be home to me.

I commend the management, led by General Manager Barr. Amobi Ezeaku, for their warm reception and continued commitment to football development. Clubs like Rangers have a critical role to play in identifying, nurturing and preparing young talents for the future of Nigerian football.

I also look forward to stronger collaboration among the Federal Government, football associations, clubs and other stakeholders in building a sustainable pathway from grassroots sports to the highest level.

I appreciate the Rangers management for the memorable gifts presented to me, including an official jersey, football and commemorative book. They are treasured reminders of a relationship that has lasted for more than 40 years.
I congratulate Rangers, their players, supporters, and the good people of Enugu State on the club’s enduring contribution to Nigerian football.

I joined the inspection team for the 23rd National Sports Festival, Enugu 2026, as preparations continue towards a successful Games.

On the first day of the inspection, we visited five key venues to assess the condition, quality and readiness of the sporting facilities to host athletes and officials.

Our focus was to ensure that the facilities provide athletes with the right environment to compete, develop and showcase their talents.

The inspection is part of the National Sports Commission’s commitment to proper planning, improved sporting infrastructure and effective delivery of the National Sports Festival, with grassroots sports development remaining a key priority.

The exercise will continue with inspections of accommodation and transportation facilities as we work towards delivering a successful and memorable Enugu 2026.

I am deeply honoured to receive the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA) at its 39th International Conference held at Lead City University, Ibadan.

I sincerely appreciate SONTA for recognising my service and commitment to youth development and the growth of Nigeria’s creative sector.

I see this award not only as an honour, but as a call to do more. Our young people are blessed with immense talents in sports, theatre, music, film and other creative fields, and we must continue to create platforms and opportunities for them to thrive.

Sports and the creative industry share a common purpose empowering young Nigerians to discover their talents, build careers and contribute meaningfully to our nation.

Earlier today, I joined the Council Leader, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Williams, and other council officials to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of Glover Street ahead of its commissioning.

While I was encouraged by the progress of the project, I was concerned by the state of the surrounding environment. I therefore directed an immediate environmental enforcement exercise to address indiscriminate dumping, obstruction and other forms of environmental abuse around the project area.

Infrastructure development must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility. As we continue to deliver quality roads and better infrastructure, I also call on residents and stakeholders to play their part in keeping our communities clean, safe and orderly.

New roads. Cleaner communities. A better Lagos Island East.

The transformation continues. Together, we move forward.

ATTENTION..

This man beside me is Mohammed, a tricycle (Keke) rider. I never knew him from anywhere.

It happened that he picked me up this morning on my way to my destination. I was his first passenger. A few poles away, we picked another lady and two guys!

I got to my destination first, dipped my hand in my jeans pocket, brought out 1,000 naira and gave him. He immediately gave me back the balance and moved and I went my way too.

Just 5 minutes of settling down, I reached out for my phone which I placed in my jacket pocket for easy access, but it was empty.

At first, I believed that while greeting my colleagues that I might have dropped it on one person's table. So I quickly went back to them.

I asked the first and second person but none of them saw it. I started doubting myself if I actually came out of the house with it... well I did and I was intentional about where to place it.

Then, one of them dialed my number and a man picked up...
My BP instantly shot up.

Colleague: Please Sir, the phone belongs to me.
Man (with Hausa accent): Na the woman wey I carry am for xyz?
Colleague: Yes please Sir.
Man: I drop am for for for xyz Headquarters?
Colleague: Yes please Sir.
Man: My mind tell me say na you get am for this phone.
E dey with me but I go bring am come.
Colleague: When are you coming Sir?
Man: I say I go bring am, I dey carry passenger. Then he stopped picking up the calls.

At this point, I was no longer breathing well. Not just because I might not get the phone back but because that phone is...if you know you know.

Just in the middle of contemplations, suggestions and consolations, Mohammed showed up, the Hausa man showed up, not even at the spot he dropped me but right in front of my office plaza, with full load of passengers and under the heavy rain.

First, I apologized to the passengers and begged them to give me some minutes to make a memory with this man.

See Guys, whether #Hausa #Yoruba #Igbo, good, sane people exist everywhere regardless of the tribe. Let's not tag anyone evil because of where he/she comes from.

Unfortunately, I have no girl child, I would have given her hand in marriage to Mohammed's son because I'm certain he will raise intentional good boys! Anyways, time shall tell.

Please if you come across this post, just drop a line of prayer for him. He has automatically turned my family..yes na so I dey love.

Mohammed, I'm super proud that you are a Nigerian and living in the Nigeria of today and still being you.

my administration has officially commenced the reconstruction of Evans Street, from Omididun Street to Glover Street.
