This is disgraceful for a number of reasons, but especially for giving police the power to fine and jail those wearing a mask when 40% of people in state prisons have some form of disability
It's official: Mask ban in Nassau County, New York passes along party lines, 12-0 (7 abstentions). It makes wearing a mask a misdemeanor (with unclear health and religious exceptions) and gives police the power to fine people wearing a mask $1,000 and sentence them to jail time.
It was an honor to attend this amazing conversation with @MarleeMatlin. Joey Lucas as a character means so much to me as a young hard of hearing woman in politics. Representation matters.

Friend has noted it's not fair that the boys' basketball championship is held at Blue Cross Arena, but the girls' basketball championship is held at Rush-Henrietta H.S. It really is a double standard, and I'm glad it's getting called out. #ROC

This is the reality for thousands of disabled students across the country. It's past time the ADA be strengthened so students can have a pleasant educational experience with equal access to classes and extracurricular activities like their non-disabled peers.
Everyone's last year of college is supposed to be their most memorable and enjoyable.
I spent mine constantly fighting with my university's Disability Support Services office and administrators to get adequate and appropriate accommodations.
