CONVICTED | He Chased, Beat And Stamped On Defenceless Ducks While His Friends Laughed — Then Posted It On Snapchat

Owen Rayner, 20, of Staincross, Barnsley, chased three Mallard ducks around a lakeside, struck them repeatedly with a large stick and stamped on at least three of them as they desperately tried to flee. Two older teenagers watched and laughed as it happened. Rayner filmed it and posted it on Snapchat.

RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben — a man with 27 years of experience — described it as one of the worst deliberate acts of cruelty on innocent defenceless animals he had ever witnessed. He said the fact those involved were laughing as they carried out the attack showed how little respect they had for living creatures.

Rayner admitted an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 for intentionally killing or causing injury to three ducks. The court heard the attack was deliberate, prolonged and carried out purely for amusement.

He was sentenced to an 18-week suspended prison sentence, 150 hours unpaid work and over £500 in fines and costs.

Ducks feel pain and fear just like any other living creature. They were chased, beaten and stamped on for entertainment.

And once again — no prison time. 😡😡

This is the second report I've read this week of swans being brutally attacked in Britain.

Swans raise their young with enormous care and teach them well. This sickening behavior makes me wonder if parents, schools and the wider community are raising children well enough.

Sunda slow lorises are endangered due not only to destruction of their habitat but also to the pet trade—many suffering brutal tooth extraction and short lives of misery.

They are nocturnal and arboreal and completely unsuitable as pets.

Time to say goodbye:

This is a Cerulean paradise flycatcher, one of the rarest birds in the world.

For more than a century it was believed to be extinct—known only from a single specimen collected in 1873—until one was found in the last fragments of its ruined forest in the 1990s.

The few found since live only on the island of Sangihe, Indonesia, where the Baru Gold Corp has finally obtained permission to mine the island.

On September 8, 2026, the CEO, Terry Filbert, issued this statement: "Baru’s team of mining and finance professionals boasts extensive experience in starting and operating gold and coal assets. Baru is positioned to become Indonesia’s next gold producer."

The locals have fought this for years, fearing for their settlements and water supplies, but they and this beautiful and unique little bird don't matter to the Indonesian government as it continues its large-scale environmental destruction.
