The President of the Senate of Zimbabwe, Hon. Mabel Memory Chinomona, led a 10-member parliamentary delegation on a fruitful official visit to China from July 6 to 11, 2026.

During their stay in Ningxia, the delegation conducted field visits to the Helan Paddy-Fish Ecological Park and the Changcheng Huayuan Community in Yinchuan, gaining firsthand insights into China’s innovative practices in eco-friendly agriculture and people-centered community governance.

Hon. Chinomona delivered a keynote speech at the International Seminar on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. She spoke highly of China’s remarkable achievements in targeted poverty alleviation, noting that China’s proven experience offers valuable and replicable references for Zimbabwe’s national development.

In Beijing, Hon. Chinomona held talks with senior officials of the Communist Party of China, including Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. The two sides reiterated their resolve to deepen parliamentary exchanges and enhance people-to-people friendship, consolidating the time-honored all-weather cooperative partnership between China and Zimbabwe.

China has launched the upgraded "Green Channel 2.0" for African agricultural and food products, as a complementary measure to the zero-tariff policy covering 53 African countries.

Green Channel 2.0 provides faster approval procedures, streamlined assessments, expanded remote inspections, and more flexible enterprise registration arrangements.

🇿🇼 For Zimbabwe, this creates fresh opportunities for more agricultural and horticultural products to enter the vast Chinese market. Notably, Zimbabwean dried chilies can now be exported directly to China without a separate bilateral protocol. 🌶️🇨🇳
