Spellcasting is enabled by the natural inclination to be intellectually charitable to your interlocutor.

It is incredibly difficult to "unlearn" as they say. The phenomenon runs exactly parallel to that of interacting with a person with borderline personality disorder. The trap that people fall into is trying to find the unifying underlying reasoning for BPD behaviour and then addressing that, convincing and solving the behaviour or at least understanding the BPD in future. It is a source of ever growing source of stress and disappointment where the victim gets stuck in ever more elaborate and self destructive loops to try and manage the BPD.

But there is no unifying principle beneath their behaviour, it is an alien and incomprehensible horror to realise this.

Part of the explanation people believe that is there is an instinctive reaction against Trump, that right thinking politicians are required by forces outside their control to pursue rhetoric and policies viewed as "anti-Trump"

Ignore the fact that "They called Mitt Romney a far right nazi" is a reflection of a general principle worldwide.
