“People get used to anything. The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is the normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.” -Assata Shakur

@RenWaterOx also, just about any work of black feminist theory will tell you black-woman is its own fixed category. you are neither woman nor black. you are a black-woman.
there’s a common theme i’ve seen in rad-fem spaces of not engaging with any actual theory based on feminism and being reactionary. which is y a huge core of their feminism is misaligning trans woman bc that’s easier than engaging and doing both the inner and outerwork
It’s sad to see fellow black women pile on Paris for this valid take. I am absolutely a woman before I am black, if you actually understood intersectionality, you’d understand why a lot of African women feel this way.
this discourse exhausts me so much bc it's so clear everyone making arguments about which identity you should put first don't engage with feminist theory, they prefer tiktok takes and that's why we can't progress beyond this. need this discourse ended by 12pm sharp! 😭
