Inflation numbers for May are coming out tomorrow, but we already have some clues from June.
It's not just you — grocery shoppers are feeling the squeeze in the protein aisle.
After removing promotional outliers, salmon (+80.8%), ground beef (+80.6%), and pork chops (+57.3%) recorded the largest price increases between May 21 and June 21 — in just one month.
Chicken prices also climbed (+13.4%), as expected.

Mises warned: “the ‘progressives’ who today masquerade as ‘liberals’ may rant against ‘fascism’; yet it is their policy that paves the way for Hitlerism.”
“Liberal” interventionism starts with “just some” government control over prices, wages, or production. Each distortion creates new failures. And instead of repealing it, politicians add more controls. The ratchet leads to full state direction of the economy, socialism.
Without private property and real market prices, rational economic calculation becomes impossible.
The result is chaos, which requires dictatorship, propaganda, camps, and violence to enforce the plan and crush opposition.
Totalitarianism becomes the only way to hold the system together.
Mises traced it back further in “Omnipotent Government”.
German liberalism was already weak when it was undermined by etatism (statism), nationalism, and socialism in the 19th century.
Ferdinand Lassalle, a major socialist thinker, was an early forerunner of Nazism. He attacked liberals, promoted the idea that “the state is God,” and pushed for omnipotent government power as the path to “true freedom.”
He even positioned himself in a Führer-like role. Marxist class struggle thinking later paralleled the Nazi race struggle doctrine whereby both rejected peaceful cooperation through markets and division of labor in favor of group conflict and domination.
By the Weimar era, decades of interventionist and socialist policies had created economic disorder and made large parts of the population intellectually and culturally receptive to a strongman who promised order, national revival, and solutions through total state power. Hitler didn’t invent the ideology from nothing, he harvested what collectivist ideas had already planted.
And that’s why communism and Nazism are the same in practice.
Both reject individual liberty for collectivist control.
One by class, the other by race or nation.
Mises simply showed how interventionist and socialist ideas get you there.
@KomradeMonkey@ThisIsMeCassie Yes, most on the left were in support of that play are the first to call conservatives fascists. Yet that play is the definition of Fascism.
@CrankyRake Ok, can you post an example? The Volksgemeinschaft was a core ideological element of the nazis, have you heard of this? If so, can you explain why it wasn't collectivist?
Sorry to drill you, just curious
@20EvilRoy@ConcernedPah@writcertiorari He isnt dumb though, nor are the liberals. You have to understand what is happening under this regime isnt incompetence.
