@JenChenko I’ve had to tolerate being in those rooms quite a few times. I used to stay quiet and hold down the feelings it provoked. Then I got really fed up with it and learned to openly challenge their attitudes and choice of language so they atleast experience a hint of my discomfort.

I’ve done 30 or so fieldwork interviews over the past month (new project on social mobility & creative industries). Over & over again I’ve heard the story of people being mocked, denigrated, and excluded for not having the right accent>

@KateChedgzoy Awfully cruel incident. From what I’ve read about this it sounds like the perpetrator might need some urgent mental health support too. Very unusual behaviour.
