✨Cocaine is known to cause cardiac vasospasm, however it can also cause plaque rupture and the patient may need a cardiac cath.

✨ In thyroid storm, there is a specific order of tx: 1mg of propanol, PTU 500 mg load, wait 60 min, 5 drops of potassium iodine, then Hydrocortisone 100mg

✨ Prior to completing I&D, ask pts if they have any history of valve disorders as they may need antibiotic prophylaxis

Some SIM takeaways this week:

⭐️ When placing a central line, confirm placement on ultrasound in long axis to ensure guidewire location prior to dilating

⭐️ A corner stitch is helpful for V or Y shaped lacerations

⭐️ Subclavian lines have a higher risk of pneumothorax
