If you're one of the dying (like me) but also one of the poor (like many of us are or will be soon), this can be really cheap. You can get a DVD drive that plugs into any computer for $10 that's the size of a jewel CD case. Any beater printer can scan print materials.
It's 2025. Piracy and data archiving is a moral imperative. No one will preserve the parts of the internet that don't earn profit if you won't do it. If you're middle aged (aka one of the dying) you should have a NAS with regular backups.
Or maybe think about media history that was minimally or never on the Internet to begin with. Like home printed DVDs manufactured in the hundreds. Film prints. Zines. Stuff that isn't on any public or private torrent tracker or p2p or https://t.co/TMK0bf4IyC
I've seen Tron Ares 4 times. Is it a psyop to portray AI as sympathetic? Maybe. Is it a passion project for Jared Leto to insert Shadow the Hedgehog into Tron lore? Definitely. But also a great music video movie. With a subtle suicide subtext. Also the Wipeout scene was cool af
It was really good to see Saul Williams in Sinners, playing a preacher no less. Amethyst Rock Star singlehandedly changed how I thought about music and poetry in 2001.
I saw Vampire Hunter D on a giant theater screen 2 days ago, decent horror movies are coming out so frequently and casually no one even talks about it, and you can skip every straight to streaming movie and miss out on nothing. If this is what Hollywood dying looks like maybe a celebration is in order
Creating Google Gemini, an AI chat model: $191 million
Using Google Gemini as an end user: $0
Getting Google Gemini to rationally lay out all the evidence for and against and have it come to the independent conclusion that Google has an unfair technology monopoly: priceless
Hard to be more 2024 energy than this...people paying over $500 for a crappy lcd screen in a plastic box that has the appearance of a professional video monitor and costs more than an actually professional video monitor
Sha kickstarter almost funded (Pat Mills, Olivier Ledroit).
I've long owned the Heavy Metal tpb but their printing quality was not great.
Sorry if you wanted the Requiem Vampire Knight eternal calendar I got the last one :)

I had no idea how much I relied on https://t.co/TMK0bf4IyC until it got DDOSed for a couple of days. Wikipedia could disappear tomorrow with minimal impact on my life but https://t.co/TMK0bf4IyC is mission critical.
