In theology, there are first principles which every preacher must understand in order not to arrive at wrong conclusions .

One major one is about the nature of God .

To understand the nature of God we must first begin by defining who God is .

God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.

God has attributes that can be divided into two .

They are the communicable attributes of God and the incommunicable attributes of God .

The incommunicable attributes of God speak to traits that are present in God alone .

No man or angel shares those with him .

They include his immutability, his aseity , his omnipresence, omnipotent , his self-existence .

Other attributes will be his pure-actuality in that only God is who he is PERFECTLY. God isn’t getting better , he is one with who he is and perfect in who he is .

Only God has these attributes.

Then we have the communicable attributes of God .

These are attributes of God that he allows men to share in , we share in these attributes by PARTICIPATION.

They include his wisdom , power , glory , life, righteousness etc .

However , because we are creatures , we don’t possess or express these attributes in pure actuality like God . We express them in various levels of imperfection. So while God has immutability and pure actuality , we don’t .

This is why a man cannot have the communicable attributes of God as God “has “ it . For one , God doesn’t really have these attributes, he is the attributes . God doesn’t have love , he is love . God doesn’t have life , he is life . God doesn’t have peace , he is peace .

Our theological lingua must reflect this .

It is theologically incorrect for instance to say that the born again man has Gods DNA .

I am a medical doctor , to say a creature has another’s DNA is to place that creature in the same class and category . This is why certain errors have come from where folks will say “ God is a creator and the believer is a creator too “ . We are conflating things . No being can create like God creates for God creates ex-nihilo! No angel or man can do that !

To claim the same DNA as God means you are immutable , self-existent , aseitic meaning you are one with your attributes receiving it from no one .

This is not who we are .

We are recipients of Gods communicable attributes.

Forever and ever he alone is God, almighty!

The alpha and the omega .

And he has given us his spirit so we can participate in the divine via his Holy Spirit.

Our sonship and rights must be properly contextualized and understood so we know our theological boundaries.

For we now have people claiming in presence tense what only avails in the future while some in megalomanic fashion claim they are the fourth member of the God-head , not understanding the entire foolishness of such contemplations .

🚨🇺🇸 A Houston mother allegedly shot and killed her 4-year-old daughter just hours after losing custody

Vivian Savella's custody hearing ended Tuesday morning, but the handoff wasn't set until that night, so she went home with the mother who had just lost her.

Police say that mother shot her upstairs while her stepfather and a babysitter sat downstairs, then turned the gun on herself.

The mother is expected to survive, and Vivian's stepfather tried CPR but couldn't save her.

When a court takes a child away from a parent, that child should walk out of the courthouse with the other one, FULL STOP.

Leaving the handoff for later is how kids across this country keep ending up dead in custody fights.
