The No Straw Stand

Starting the war on straws in Cardiff and beyond to help fight plastic pollution

[The No Straw Stand @nostrawstand]

We've decided that our time actively campaigning with #TheNoStrawStand has come to an end. One of our main aims was not to be needed anymore and we feel #Cardiff as truly embraced what we were all about.

We'd like to say a big DIOLCH to everyone.

Remember recycling should only be our last resort regarding waste management solutions. The McDonald's drama just highlights the difficulty some businesses face when taking #TheNoStrawStand and how the government needs to improve infrastructure to support them.

@UpRising_Cymru Well done everyone!!! 🥳🥳🥳

Plastic in Paradise. Just a tiny fraction of plastic found on the beach today in Dhigurah, which is surrounded by an MPA. Just off the coast is a wilderness of turtles, whale sharks, dolphins and rays, all of which are extremely vulnerable to our obsession with single use plastic

This #WorldOceansDay we're thinking about how we can further protect our oceans from increasing human disturbance. Let's continue to pressure governments for brave and transformative policies that make it easier for the consumer to avoid #singleuseplastic! 🌊

Another Cardiff business putting sustainability over convenience. We love it! Well done @spiritsremedies for taking #TheNoStrawStand.

So great that more and more cocktail bars are deciding the ditch single use plastic! Which bar should be next?!

We now use reusable metal skewers, and both metal and bamboo straws.

We're commited to reducing our environmental impact and waste.

That being said, we're very understanding of wasting the… https://t.co/lgclbL9oxL

@nostrawstand We're opening a plastic free supermarket in Barry, but we only have until 11pm to hit our Crowdfunder target. Please RT or make a pledge at https://t.co/cxvDqpPUUo #zerowaste #noplanetB

@Thepaperconcept @aplastic_planet @WelshGovernment @PenarthFree @AbergavennyFree @PlasticBangor @christiandunn @GreenCityEvents @huwmjames @gpgpenarth @FOECardiff @ripple_living Agree, but with consumer pressure hopefully we can get businesses to adhere to any bans properly. Lots of work to come over the next couple of years in getting governments to legislate against single use plastic pollution properly, but this is a positive, even if small, step.

[The No Straw Stand @nostrawstand]

The UK Government has banned plastic straws, stirrers and buds in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. We're now calling on @WelshGovernment to impose the same regulations in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 as soon as possible, making it even easier for individuals to take #TheNoStrawStand. RT to show your support! 🚫🥤

[The No Straw Stand @nostrawstand]

Now looking to @WelshGovernment to implement a similar policy so we in #Wales can be as tough on #singleuseplastic as the rest of the UK. @hannahblythyn @McQuadeJess @Keep_Wales_Tidy @WalesOnline @cardiffsquirrel @ripple_living

Amazing news for campaigners like us, and even better that straws will still be available to those who need them.

An great step towards a single use #plastic free future.
