"Their owner passed away alone in his apartment. Nobody found him for three days. The dogs waited the whole time." When animal control finally arrived, Max and Buddy were sitting by the front door. Not destructive. Not panicked. Just sitting. Waiting. Doing what he had always taught them to do. They came to our shelter with nothing. No records. No vet history. No family contact. Just each other. And one old tennis ball that somebody thought to grab on the way out. That was eleven days ago. Every morning they sit at the kennel door and wait. Every time they hear footsteps they both stand up. Every time those footsteps pass — they go back and lie down together. They don't know he's not coming. They just know he always came back before. Max is 6. Buddy is 5. Both healthy. Both gentle. Both heartbreakingly good dogs. Neither one will do well separated. They have never spent a night apart. They were somebody's whole world. ICE detain mother holding U.S. citizen daughter—force her to decide about family separation.

Agents refuse to allow her to call the father to come and get the young girl.

Force her to either abandon daughter and leave her alone on sidewalk—or be detained by ICE along with her.

Mother and daughter are then ordered into an unmarked truck and taken away.

The incident occurred in Houston, Texas.

Man filming promised to try and contact the father—to tell him where his family disappeared to.

I never had the privilege of knowing this man personally, but I heard both incredible and heartbreaking stories about his extraordinary talent as a hairdresser to so many beautiful women, as well as the struggles he carried throughout his life. Today, I learned of his death.

In thanksgiving for his gifts, and with compassion for his struggles—as one who also knows both—I would be honored, as a #missionaryofmercy, to cover his funeral expenses if someone can provide me with simple details.

I met Hazel today while volunteering, and she completely stole my heart. 🥹❤️

Hazel is such a sweet, loving dog who deserves so much more than a kennel. She's still waiting for the family she's been hoping for, and I truly can't understand why. Maybe her forever home is just one share away. 🐾

Hazel is currently up for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta, GA. If you can't adopt, please share her story—someone out there might be looking for a best friend just like Hazel. ❤️

Hebert Ibarra Castro is a 20-year-old mariachi from San Antonio who was detained by ICE on his way home from performing at a birthday party.

Still in his mariachi attire, a detention facility worker taunted him: "If you sing me a song, I'll let you go." What was meant as mockery, mariachis across San Antonio have turned into an act of solidarity and are banding together to sing for his release.

Hebert came to the United States when he was just 4 years old with his family, fleeing violence in Mexico. Hebert’s wife is a U.S. citizen and is desperate for his return. My office is working to bring Hebert home where he belongs, with his young wife and family.
