the people impacted by this have been hurt enough. people slinging around the words rape and begging him to take his own life, incessant digging through his old classmates’ socials when they were minors just with the intent of “canceling him now that this came out”, saying you won’t stop til he d*es. media outlets turning this into sexuality speculation. i’m literally just appalled. none of this helps anyone. not one person benefits from this.
downplaying the use of a hate symbol on the grounds that the person involved was a teenager is in itself a harmful response as it undermines the violence such symbols inflict on those they are directed against
i’m not black so it’s not my place to speak over anyone. all i’m saying is that people who are hurt and offended deserve to be heard and respected and sorry but this time he’s kinda on his own
i know this was posted with ill intent but you’re actually brain dead if you see this as a “gotcha” moment. it is an extreme privilege to grow up in a non-conservative environment and we could only wish all queer kids were raised in families that loved and accepted them
it’s been said but… so sad that a show that is filled with so much love and light that stars two boys that are also filled with just as much love and light has formed a fanbase filled with so much vitriol and hatred.
