Aang cried as Tagah — the only other airbender he’d ever known — faded into the mist, both of them whispering the same sacred words Monk Gyatso once taught him:

In that moment, Aang wasn’t saying goodbye to an enemy… he was saying goodbye to everything he ever lost.
