@macdonaldtheold@390dx@yacineMTB I see a mix, but most in the colder climate I work in are moving away from cooling towers. Doing a 2 400mW that are air cooled, and one much smaller that they're considering doing evaporative unfortunately.
@JagexIsEpic@390dx@yacineMTB Yes I'm aware it's less effective in warmer climates, but they still can use air cooled systems (and some of the biggest upcoming planned data centers in the south are)
@A1_sinceDay111@JMurrayWrld Brother as a wolves fan cut this shit out. There are no fake rings. Would you not celebrate a championship if every team we faced wasn't completely healthy?
@390dx@yacineMTB In an ideal world we would have district energy infrastructure and heat pump chillers that utilize the heat rejection from the cooling plants to supplement surrounding homes and businesses (ideally in colder climates). But these mega corps will never invest in that
@390dx@yacineMTB People need to stop assuming they know more than everyone else on the Internet. Pushing back against the unregulated explosion of AI is good. But it's important to be knowledgeable on what the real problems are that data centers present. (It's not water for many new ones)
@390dx@yacineMTB Yeah I'm looking at a blueprint on my work monitor right now, cooling plant is closed loop with air cooled chillers. I'm an AI hater btw, just trying to correct disinformation. This is Midwest btw, might be different in warmer climates.
