@RuthlesJuiceBox @riotgames To add on, Esports has no root among those people and would not be of interest as traditional sports would. Reaching a wider audience yes, but not actually capturing that audience. The older generation grew up on sports and that is way more easily understood than a game like LoL.

@RuthlesJuiceBox @riotgames You have to realize, the audience for Esports are not the ones watching TV. They would be the same ones on Twitch or on YouTube. Esports with a older demographic just does not work out at all. Traditional sports have interest among those people and that is why it works there.

They can take the hit but it doesn't solve the problem which are the projects themselves which have to be scaled back alongside the workforce.

@IKeepItTaco Honestly I am just glad the severance package is way above the standard for the employees. Six months pay, cash bonus, health insurance for the duration of the severance, wellness fund, computer, and access to Riot counseling and legal resources is a good move by the CEO.
