UCF QB coach McKenzie Milton wrapped up spring feeling good about the room, even without starter Alonza Barnett taking live reps.

“I won’t get into specifics on what’s going on with him, but I will say he’s really close to being full-go with the guys. Him and I, we’ve been throwing.

“So I’m not concerned at all about him not taking live snaps. The guy that played in the national championship last year didn’t take a snap in spring. It’s a new day and age in college football where there are a lot of external factors with monetary things, just being real. So we’ve got to protect our investment.

“He’s done a great job being in the fray with the guys. We’ve always been a close-to-the-vest operation when it comes to injuries. I was dealing with a whole bunch of things as a player, from ankles to shoulders, week to week, and you guys never knew a peep about it.

“So I won’t get into specifics. But he had a long season at JMU, and we knew about everything going in. He’s done a great job and is ready to attack the summer grind. He’s going to be our dude going into this season.”
