According to a recent report by Chosun..com, officials from the Army Training Center have addressed the controversy surrounding "Official A" and their personal request to SEVENTEEN’s Woozi.
Key points from the statement:
Denial of Coercion: The military representative stated that an internal investigation found "no coercion or pressure" was involved. They claim Woozi fulfilled the request out of "goodwill" (favor) and that no laws or military regulations were violated.
The "Rapport" Argument: Addressing the criticism that a trainee cannot easily refuse a superior's request, the military argued that the request was made near the end of the 6-week training period. They claimed this was "sufficient time for a friendly rapport to have developed between the two individuals."
No Disciplinary Action: The Army Training Center currently has no plans to discipline "Official A" or implement separation measures, stating that the situation "did not meet the criteria for such actions."
Future Measures: While they found no fault in this specific case, they plan to conduct surveys among other unit members to check for any other instances of unfair treatment as part of an effort to improve "barracks culture."
