“This system has failed!” No shit, Sir! You’re Interior Minister + Senator + Part-time Foreign Minister + Full-time PCB Chairman + Shadow Chief Minister + Media Channel Owner + Quasi-Ambassador to the US + Special Liaison for Pakistan to Mojtaba Khamenei. The system is resting on your very capable shoulders, Sir!
Inverter ACs save energy by maintaining temperature at low power, not by shutting them down and then making them work harder again to cool the room. May Allah bless our Sarkari babus with some common sense.
Iran can sign trade deals with India in the middle of the Pak-Ind conflict. Iran can repeatedly offer the Chabahar port to India, as Iran has a right to watch its economic interests, but these Pakistani Iran-lovers would be greatly offended if Pakistan watched its own interests.
India has formally launched its bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2028–29. If the international community was prepared to penalize Germany for its unabashed support of Israel’s genocidal war, India deserves even greater scrutiny.
Here is why.
India tried to champion Global South’s causes and multilateral reform. Its actions suggest otherwise.
On Gaza, India’s complicity in the genocide is difficult to dispute. It openly backed Israel’s war against the Palestinians and emerged as Israel’s second-largest arms supplier during the genocide, accounting for 26% of all arms imports received by Israel.
Its record at the UN has been equally troubling. While India supported some largely symbolic resolutions, it repeatedly abstained on impactful resolutions.
▪️27 October 2023 (UNGA ES-10/21): India abstained on a resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza.
▪️18 September 2024 (UNGA ES-10/24): India abstained on a resolution demanding that Israel end its occupation of Palestinian territories in line with the ICJ advisory opinion.
▪️12 June 2025 (UNGA ES-10/27): India abstained on a resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Even Germany eventually changed course and voted for UNGA ES-10/27. India still did not.
On China, India has aligned itself with US’s containment strategy. It has also sabotaged Global South initiatives aimed at reducing Western dominance. It blocked a BRICS proposal for a unified currency to challenge dollar hegemony. At the SCO, it refused to endorse a joint statement condemning Israel’s unlawful war on Iran.
Under its MAHASAGAR, India portrays itself as a defender of maritime commons and a rules-based maritime order. Yet those principles vanished when the unarmed Iranian vessel IRIS Dena was torpedoed by the United States in India’s own maritime backyard.
Worse still, the Indian Navy, which boasts of being the “first to respond when the ocean turns turbulent”, ignored distress calls of Iranian sailors killing 104. Sri Lanka showed more courage by rescuing some of them.
Equally hollow is India’s portrayal of itself as an anti-terror crusader. India routinely uses terrorism in occupied J&K to justify wars of aggression – best exemplified by failed Op Sindoor. At the same time, it hosts and engages the Taliban regime, which, according to the UN Sanctions Monitoring Team, continues to provide sanctuary to numerous terrorist groups.
India seems to believe that some shipments of food and medicine can make for its complicity in the Gaza genocide and its repeated betrayal of the Global South.
Taken together, these glaring double standards abroad, coupled state-sponsored genocide of Muslims at home; it is not a stretch to demand India’s suspension from UN rather than rewarding it with a seat on the UNSC.
