Introducing External Agents in Notion: Claude + Cursor.
Your team already collaborates in Notion. Now your favorite agents do too.
Assign them tasks from a board shared with your whole team. @-mention them like teammates. Watch them run.
These narratives assume small businesses will keep running yesterday’s playbook. They assume small businesses won’t adapt, innovate, or benefit from AI.
I think that’s shortsighted. It underestimates both entrepreneurs and the resilience of small businesses.
Will there be job displacement? Yes. Will everyone lose their jobs and every business go bankrupt? No.
Our responsibility is to make sure this technology spreads in a way that businesses of every size can benefit from it.
At @NotionHQ, we call this “serving the Fortune 5 million, not just the Fortune 500.”
You can now delegate tasks to Cursor directly from Notion.
It's built on the Cursor SDK, so every cloud agent runs on the same models, harness, and runtime that power Cursor.
@Cursor on any spec or assign it a task to open a PR your whole team can review.
Most companies aren't that far behind. Most likely you’re not either.
We're in the middle of a massive economic renovation - slow, confusing, time-consuming - but, if history is any guide, the future belongs to the people who roll up their sleeves and work on what comes next.

AI is moving fast. Most companies aren't.
The loudest stories come from the edges - autonomous agents, massive job losses, whole industries about to flip. Read enough of these stories and it feels like you’re behind and everyone else is way ahead.
This didn’t feel quite right to us. So we surveyed 6,000 professionals across 10 markets to map where AI at work actually is. Here's what we found 🧵
At the most advanced orgs, low trust in AI outputs drops 8% and skills gaps drop 3%. But tool sprawl jumps 14%, measuring real impact gets 9% harder, and model performance grows 5% less consistent.
Getting better at AI doesn't make AI transformation any less difficult. Early on, the work is helping people trust and use AI. Later, the work becomes more about controlling the system around it.
External agents are coming to Notion.
Claude and Cursor are first. More agents will follow, and we’ll also provide a way for companies to connect agents they’ve built themselves.

excited to share something i've been working on: external agents!
external agents radically changed how we work at @NotionHQ. since we've been working on them internally, we have shipped 1000+ PRs with external agents. here's a thread with what i've learned while building them🧵
