Obsidian 1.14 is now available with five major improvements:
1. Edit Markdown files outside your vault

Obsidian 1.15.0 (early access) is now available to Catalyst members!
- Mermaid diagrams use our new rendering engine, Pele, which renders up to 500 times faster and uses your theme's colors and fonts.
- Voice capture on iOS: Quick Capture can record and transcribe voice notes as you speak, even from the Lock Screen.
- PDF export on mobile.
- Smarter list editing: indenting or moving a list item now moves nested items too.
- Accent-insensitive search: cafe matches café in suggestions.
- New URI and CLI commands to append or prepend content under a heading.
- Filters in Bases can now be reordered.
- Community plugins load faster when Obsidian starts.
Obsidian 1.14.5 is now available for desktop.
It updates Electron from 43.7.5 to 43.8.3, which includes several important security fixes.

Pele is a fast, beautiful, open source renderer for Mermaid diagrams we created for the next version of Obsidian.
You can already try it in the Pele playground and integrate it into your own apps.
This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax.
- 100-500× faster than mermaid.js
- 6× smaller bundle
- No dependencies
- Easy to theme
- Responsive to device width
In pursuit of making Obsidian insanely fast and cohesively designed, I always found the Mermaid library to be too big, too slow, and too hard to theme. Pele will be the new renderer in the next version of Obsidian, but you can start using it now.
Pele [ˈpɛlɛ] is named after the goddess of volcanoes and fire. It's open source under the MIT license. Try the playground!

@Maalo Obsidian 1.14 is also on Windows, Linux, and Android! The new features and improvements work there too.
Two exceptions: Quick Look which is a native macOS feature, and Quick Capture which is on iOS and will come to Android later.
