The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect. Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.
This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
Hard truth…
I can speak freely because I’m 65 years old and my pocketful of fucks is seriously depleted.
Working as a paralegal at various studios in LA for thirty years…I had the opportunity to observe studio executives closely.
They’re generally a slippery and clueless bunch who shouldn’t be allowed near anything remotely creative…but the new regime at Paramount is straight up evil.
I assure you.
These soulless bastards have nothing but contempt for a show about grace and redemption and the struggle against fascism.
ATLA is a mystery to them.
They. Do. Not. Value. The. Franchise.
I find what's being unsaid here disturbing: the reason removing em-dashes from ChatGPT responses is a "win" that is worthy of an announcement is that em-dashes are primarily used to sniff out if a published work was written by ChatGPT.
What purpose does this serve except to more covertly pass off AI writing as human writing?
If people didn't care that an article etc was AI generated, why would this sort of thing be worthy of a dedicated announcement?
An argument I've seen is that writers who frequently use em-dashes in their work are wrongly being accused of using ChatGPT, and this is a step toward mitigating that.
But this is a smokescreen that functions on the assumption that people are only upset when they can see the cracks and are otherwise indifferent to AI writing if they can't tell the difference.
The truth of this sneakily insidious announcement is that it is a declaration not only that ChatGPT's designers are aware that people do not want to read things written by AI, but also that ChatGPT functions better as a product when it deceptively hides its fingerprints.
Were AI designers fine with laws or industry standards requiring disclosure around the use of AI, this seemingly innocuous fix wouldn't have even crossed Mr. Altman's mind to announce. In fact, if disclosure was a standard, writers would not be accused of using AI in the first place; the simple omission of "written using AI" from their work would be enough.
@Riley_Gaines_ You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!!
But instead… You bully them…
One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!
daniel penny isn’t even a debate to me lol if you support him, stay as far away from me as possible. I think you are trash. literal shit on my shoe. never speak to me or look in my general direction.
i'd vaguely heard about the US election in 2000 actually being "stolen" and i looked it up and it seems consensus is
- the entire US election came down to florida
- the difference in votes was <0.1%, not statistically significant
- polling machine had hardware issues way higher than <0.1%
- florida could have decided to actually and properly hand count the votes
- the state's highest supreme court decided to do that
- bush asked the supreme court to intervene in a state's free & independent ability to run its own elections
- the voting was exactly on partisan lines: the 5 republican judges declared bush the winner
- they cited reasoning that competes for one of the most transparently dishonest rulings of all time
- the single most comprehensive study after the fact found that if the votes had been properly counted, gore would have won
- this is not factoring in a calculated, well-documented attempt by republican governor of florida to suppress thousands of votes, in black counties for al gore, by the official US election commission
