This is false. NY State contribution was $600 million and Erie County contribution was $250 million. That means $1.3 billion was not taxpayer financed (the final cost was $2.2 billion).

@WillYoder @BenVerlander If the appeal went to third instead of first, the third base runner would have been out and no run would score. A fourth out at first base would have been unnecessary. The appeal generates the out, not leaving early.
