@skoczyslaw honestly i’m not really sure, but i think it’s bc it’s specifically the notation for an earned degree and not a title. like “dr.” goes before a name like “mr.” or “mrs.” because it’s a title, but MD is just telling you what they went to school for so it goes after?? i think??

@skoczyslaw in the US at least, i think it’s because it represents the type of medical degree the person holds. so “house, md” is “house, doctor of medicine.” i’m not sure about the placement of titles like that in other countries though!!
